Gallipoli Music Memorial 2015

The stories

The project tells the stories of eight men who fought at Gallipoli in June 1915, set the wartime experiences of individuals against their peacetime lives and against the uses to which artists' work was put, and the ways in which, killed or disabled, the casualties of this time affected the lives of thousands of families, lovers and indeed survivors. Patrick Shaw-Stewart survived the 4th June 1915. He wrote afterwards:

"There is so little left of what you have loved in me, a ghost's husk moving mechanically."
